EPD have expertise to quickly and economically assess potential sites for suitability as a canoeing / kayaking site.
Preliminary surveys would be undertaken to indicate potential heads and flow arrangements, detailed desk studies to ascertain flow rates, land ownership, water quality and uncover any relevant existing information to hinder or aid the proposal.
Our combined knowledge can rapidly produce potential scheme outlines / options and appraise them to determine the most viable and appealing solutions.
With our expert consultants on hydraulics, hydrology, structures, water quality, environmental impact and assessments, pumping stations (if artificial whitewater is proposed), and 3rd party understanding i.e. fishing interests. EPD can provide sound and reliable information based around a solid knowledge and understanding of both what the canoeist requires, and expects, and the engineering viability of such desires. A 3Dimensional model can be produced and combined with the topographic survey to quickly ascertain earth movements and channel positions for the most economic construction location.
We have experience in the use of adjustable wave forming structures, mobile obstacle systems etc and with both paddling and engineering knowledge can easily appraise their suitability and costs to develop the required paddling feature.
We can conduct these reports very economically as we know exactly what to focus on from the outset; we don't need to visit other facilities or features, we've already been there, probably many times. At the same time we know exactly what has to be done in the engineering environment to deliver the solution, interacting with all the necessary parties along the way.
EPD always has a clear direction to provide solutions that are sensible and achievable, satisfying paddling and engineering criteria in a one stop shop.
